Teaching and assessment
Learning should combine taught sessions, workshops, tutorials and independent study. LSBI should show learners how the 600 guided learning hours sit within the qualification’s 1,200 total qualification hours.
Assessment is by coursework. Work is internally assessed by the approved centre and externally verified by OTHM. The qualification is graded Pass or Fail; LSBI must not advertise Merit or Distinction grades for this specification.
Entry requirements
OTHM does not set formal entry qualifications for this programme, but the approved centre must ensure that each learner has the capability to achieve at Level 3. Learners are normally aged 16 or over.
Applicants who are not from a majority English-speaking country must provide evidence of English language competency. LSBI should publish the specific evidence it accepts and any admissions interview or diagnostic assessment.
Progression and career relevance
The qualification is designed to support progression to undergraduate study or to a suitable Level 4 qualification, including an OTHM Level 4 diploma. Admission and credit recognition remain the decision of the receiving institution.

Award
Learners who successfully complete all six mandatory units receive the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies, an Ofqual-regulated qualification awarded by OTHM Qualifications.
Important information
A Level 3 qualification is at the same RQF difficulty level as A levels, but it is not an A level and does not automatically carry the same content, admissions treatment or UCAS Tariff value. LSBI should make no UCAS-points claim unless confirmed for this exact qualification.
